The film picks up six years after the death of Trife (Aml Ameen) from the first film with the release of Sam (Noel Clarke) from jail where he has been for the past six and a half years for killing Trife. After being released, he goes to the cemetery where he visits Trife's tombstone where he is attacked by Trife's cousin.

Writer and director Noel Clarke plays a troubled young man called Sam who’s just been released from prison after six years for killing a rival, an event we saw in the last movie.

Although determined to go straight, things aren’t quite that simple with his victim’s friends determined to wreak revenge.

Set among the estates of West London, Adulthood isn’t a film for the squeamish, with numerous episodes of quite shocking violence. In the first 10 minutes, for example, we’re treated to a stabbing, a shooting, a carjacking and a couple of pretty explicit sex scenes
