LOTR 2160p Encoder Video Notes: Total encoding time for the trilogy was just over 5 days on an i9-12900k. Three original blrays were used totaling 439GB. The file size was reduced to 77GB for over 12 hours of content. The new SVT-AV1 version 1.7 with Mode 4 was used. It is equivalent to Mode 3 on SVT-AV1 v1.6 at a 50% faster speed. It is the highest quality time sensitive preset. The Bitrates of the video streams are 13.7Mbps, 11.7Mbps and 15Mbps respectively. They were downsized from 65Mbps HEVC video streams. The maximum file size that can be distributed was preferred for higher video quality. The goal was to create Bluray video quality - not web download quality on a 4K TV.
LOTR 2160p Encoder Audio Notes: Multi-language audio was included with subtitles in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. 87% to 90% of the file size is the video quality. 10% to 13% is the audio tracks. English audio will work naively with a optical sound bar or stereo set, due to the AC3 5.1 640kbps. Equivalent quality OPUS 5.1 256kbps was used for multi-language support at a reduced file size.
Distribution Note: This trilogy will be distributed with 32MB piece sizes, to make it easier to seed. This peice size is less resource intensive and more seed box friendly. An alternative torrent client such as qBittorrent, Deluge or Transmission is recommended. The latest version of uTorrent will also work, but may experience limitations. The uploader will be launching with 30 upload slots per torrent at two gigabits. This is what that speed can handle. Please seed back generously. Torrents will be serviced by the uploader one at a time for each ip address. Simply keep the torrents running.
Known Issues with uTorrent: uTorrent may have trouble connecting to libtorrent rakshasa. If you're experiencing low speeds or no transfer, simply restart the torrent or wait for more seeders. uTorrent may consume 15 minutes or longer allocating disk space before transfer speeds increase. Simply disable this option or wait for the task to complete, before diagnosing transfer speed issues. uTorrent may cry about 1 connection per ip address. Simply start one torrent at a time from the uploader, to avoid getting stuck in an infinite connection loop. Thanks for reading about all the problems with uTorrent and why thousands of torrent downloaders have switched to alternatives.
UserHEVC encodes AV1 movies. Razor high video quality. Reasonable file size.
UserHEVC recommends a 38.6GB x264 or 28.95GB HEVC video stream, to match 19.3GB video quality on AV1.

A message from UserHEVC:
Quote:
“I encode videos to solve a problem, not to create one.” - UserHEVC
I started encoding videos to strive to do better. My Computer Science background helps to make better choices. File size is a problem, which is why video codecs (such as AVC, HEVC and AV1) compress bits of information. The choices we make to configure video codecs, impact us more than we know.
Please seed, it's a respect thing:
Quote:
It's recommended to seed for at least a 1:1 ratio or 24 hours. Otherwise, the uploader's work goes to waste. The torrent will not propagate as effectively and there will be less seeders retained long term. If you have a slow connection – it's fine. Staying on the torrent for 24 hours has a tremendous impact!
Think the file size is too high for 4K content? Here's an example of colour issues. These occur at smaller 4K file sizes. A good benchmark bit-rate for 2160p AV1 is 10Mbps
