The Hobbit 2160p Trilogy Video Notes: Total encoding time for the trilogy was just over 4 days on an i9-12900k. Three Bluray remuxes were used totaling 216GB. The file size was reduced to 74GB for 12 hours of content. The new SVT-AV1 version 1.7 with Mode 4 was used. It is equivalent to Mode 3 on SVT-AV1 v1.6. It is the highest quality time sensitive preset. The Bitrates of the video streams are 16.7Mbps, 15.1Mbps and 14.8Mbps respectively. They were downsized from 50Mbps HEVC video streams. The maximum file size that can be distributed was preferred for higher video quality. The goal was to create Bluray video quality - not a web download quality on a 4K TV.
The Hobbit 2160p Trilogy Audio Notes: TrueHD English audio was due to the popularity of the trilogy. The original lossless audio streams were passed-through to the encode untouched. This sounds better than lossy compressed audio. Multi-language audio was included using OPUS 5.1 256kbps with subtitles Spanish, Italian and Czech.
MKVToolNix: This is free software to remove audio tracks from encodes. If file size is more important than audio quality, each encode in the trilogy can be reduced by 4-5GB by removing TrueHD audio (17%) and multi-language support (3%). A secondary English OPUS 5.1 256kbps audio track is included for this purpose. Spanish, Italian and Czech downloaders can also do this for a big file size reduction.
Distribution note: This movie trilogy will be distributed with a 32MB piece sizes in separate torrents. Ensure to select a compatible torrent client. This will allow for rapid seeding with fewer resources. Enjoy the fast download speeds. Please note each IP Address is only allowed 1 connection to my seed box. I often seed multiple torrents. Simply keep the torrents running to be serviced one at a time. Avoidance of resource duplication greatly improves throughput. It normally takes a few hours after torrents are posted for the swarm to initialize. No action is required other than patience.
UserHEVC screenshots are now JPEG tone mapped for rapid page loading speeds and more accurate video quality representation.
UserHEVC encodes AV1 movies. Razor high video quality. Reasonable file size.
UserHEVC recommends 37.7GB x264 or 29.2GB HEVC, to match 20.7GB AV1 video and TrueHD audio quality.

“I encode videos to solve a problem, not to create one.” - UserHEVC
I started encoding videos to strive to do better. My Computer Science background helps to make better choices. File size is a problem, which is why video codecs (such as AVC, HEVC and AV1) compress bits of information. The choices we make to configure video codecs, impact us more than we know.
Please seed, it's a respect thing:
Quote:
It's recommended to seed for at least a 1:1 ratio or 24 hours. Otherwise, the uploader's work goes to waste. The torrent will not propagate as effectively and there will be less seeders retained long term. If you have a slow connection – it's fine. Staying on the torrent for 24 hours has a tremendous impact!
Still think the file size is too high for 4K content? Here's an example of colour issues. These occur at smaller 4K file sizes. A good benchmark bit-rate for 2160p AV1 is 10Mbps
