Equilibrium (2002), directed by Kurt Wimmer, Japanese Sony Pictures remaster, encoded in 10 bit HEVC with AAC sound, including original theatrical 5.1, two commentary tracks, and English subtitles.

IMDb : https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0238380/

Video encoded in two-pass 10 Mbps x265 10bit with the veryslow preset for archive quality image. Audio encoded separately with Apple AAC for the highest-quality AAC sound available. Subtitles converted to VobSub and repositioned.

Note : There was a flurry of post-Matrix sci-fi action movies featuring lots of shootouts and black leather outfits, but this effort by Kurt Wimmer stands out a bit. First of all, visually, shot by Dion Beebe, it looks much better and more expensive than its $20M budget should allow, as opposed to the director's next film, which cost about 5 bucks and looks even cheaper. Christian Bale ramps his performance up to near-suicidal intensity, as usual, well supported by a solid cast including Emily Watson, Taye Diggs, Angus Macfadyen, Sean Bean (who dies tragically early on, as per his usual contract), William Fichtner, Sean Pertwee, David Hemmings, and more. The plot is hogwash, of course, sub-1984 "What if the fascists forced us to take antidepressants" hippie ruminations, but the "gun-kata" action, while ridiculous on paper, looks so cool you almost buy all of it.

In a post-WWIII dystopia where feelings are illegal and all citizens are required to take their medicine by mean mommy totalitarian state, John Preston is a "Tetragrammaton Cleric", a member of an elite team of law enforcement dedicated to seeking out and eliminating "sense offenders" who don't take their medication, and burning random art like the Mona Lisa. They're also near superhuman at martial arts with guns, able to take out whole groups of opponents on their own. After a raid, Preston discovers his mentor has been secretly not taking his meds, and has started showing feelings, so Preston is forced to kill him, but later he accidentally misses a dose himself, coinciding with the apperance of a mysterious woman, and he slowly begins to see things differently.

This Japanese remaster is quite good quality, very clean, with excellent color, contrast, and sharpness, and subtle grain. 5.1 track sounds great, both commentary tracks are also good.

HeVK torrents always have lots of keywords. Try searching for “hevk sci-fi action” for more shooting people in the future, “hevk dystopia” for more futures when things aren't so great, or “hevk martial-arts” for more uses of the highly trained human body as a weapon (and also weapons as weapons).
