Vampire's Kiss
A publishing executive is visited and bitten by a vampire and starts exhibiting erratic behavior. He pushes his secretary to extremes as he tries to come to terms with his affliction. The vampire continues to visit and drink his blood, and as his madness deepens, it begins to look as if some of the events he's experiencing may be hallucinations.
Vampire's Kiss (1988), directed by Robert Bierman, MVD remaster, encoded in 10 bit HEVC with AAC sound, including original theatrical stereo, commentary track, and subtitles in eight languages.
IMDb : https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0098577/
Video encoded in two-pass 13.0 Mbps x265 10bit with the veryslow preset for archive quality image. Audio encoded separately with Apple AAC for the highest-quality AAC sound available. Subtitles converted to VobSub and repositioned.
Note : Nicolas Cage freak out movies are practically their own subgenre by now, and this is one of the earliest and most unhinged. It's not a good movie, really, although the pitch-black comedy does have something going for it, but Cage's performance is so unhinged it's fascinating to watch, ranting and raving, eating a live cockroach (on Cage's own insistence, and he did two takes), making that goofy fucking face from that meme, making a lot of other goofy faces, and just generally chewing the scenery, along with a few necks. Watch it if you like watching Cage do his thing. Apart from that, this might make an interesting double feature with Abel Ferrara's The Addiction, now that I think about it.
Peter Loew is a yuppie literary agent in New York City who's living the high life, but who's secretly falling apart, ranting at his therapist and becoming aroused at having a one night stand interrupted by a bat flying into the apartment. He takes a woman named Rachel home from a club, and during sex she bites him on the neck, however, it's unclear if this is an hallucination or not, but Peter starts believing he's becoming a vampire. This leads to the complete disintegration of his personal and professional relationships, although some things point to Peter actually being a vampire, or at least starting to violently attack and possibly kill people; he also does a lot of imitating Max Schreck's weird walking from Nosferatu. In the end, it's the Latino's who have to clean up the mess, as usual.
This is a decent remaster, not very sharp and a bit grainy, but good contrast and color, sound is fine, commentary track very much worth listening to, with Cage's reactions to his antics.
