The Dead Zone (1983), directed by David Cronenberg, V2 Shout! Factory 4k remaster, encoded in 10 bit HEVC with AAC sound, including 5.1 remaster, original theatrical stereo, five commentary tracks, including music commentary with score selections, and subtitles in English and German.

IMDb : https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085407/

Video encoded in two-pass 15.0 Mbps x265 10bit with the veryslow preset for archive quality image. Audio encoded separately with Apple AAC for the highest-quality AAC sound available. Text subtitles OCRed, proofed and corrected, image subtitles converted to VobSub and repositioned.

Note : Perhaps Cronenberg's most conventional horror film, it was nevertheless his breakthrough into the mainstream, and its success directly lead to The Fly three years later. It's a Stephen King adaptation, of course, although it's pretty loose, and features Christopher Walken, also giving a pretty restrained performance. The rest of the cast includes Brooke Adams, Tom Skerritt, Herbert Lom, and Martin Sheen.

Johnny Smith is a schoolteacher who has a car accident, sending him into a coma for five years. When he awakes, he learns that his girlfriend Sarah is married with children, and, perhaps more surprisingly, that he's become psychic, able to see people's past, present, and future when physically touching them. He attempts to help people around him, and then the police, but his psychic abilities seem to come at the cost of his physical health, which deteriorates. When he takes a job as a tutor for the son of a rich man, he manages to save the boy's life, but also accidentally comes into contact with a third-party populist political candidate running for senate, whose future paints a very dark picture indeed.

This is a quite nice 4k remaster, with controlled grain and good contrast, nice detail, although color could be a little more saturated. The 5.1 and stereo tracks both sound good, and there's so many commentary tracks here that you'll probably tire of the film before you get through them all.

HeVK torrents always have lots of keywords. Try searching for “hevk supernatural horror” for more things not explainable by science, “hevk thriller” for more suspense and thrills, or “hevk 80s” for more from the decade when Christopher Walken wasn't yet known as such a weirdo.
