Note : Lesbian vampires never go out of fashion, and they were of course particularly fashionable in the 70s, when Spanish director Larraz went to Britain to make this weird little number, a story of atypical, technically bisexual vampires who lure in men (and the occasional woman) into the mansion they inhabit, and bleed them for sustenance, with a touch of domination and submission. Headed up by Marianne Morris and Playboy Playmate Anulka Dziubinska, it's a pretty sordid affair, with plenty of nudity and sex, and moderate gore. The rest of the cast includes Murray Brown, Brian Deacon, Sally Faulkner, and Michael Byrne.
Fran and Miriam are lovers who are shot to death in their bed. Somehow, they return as vampires to haunt the country house where they died, and now, John and Harriet, a young couple, drive by and decide to camp out. Harriet sees figures and lights, indicating the mansion isn't as abandoned as it seems, but when John investigates, he finds nothing. When middle-aged Ted passes by, he sees a car accident with a single dead man in the vehicle, and picks up Fran, who's posing as a hitchhiker, and who takes him to the house for drinks and sex. In the morning, he finds a gash on his arm, but attributes it to a broken wine glass. While looking for Fran, he comes across John and Harriet, who invite him in for coffee and bandage his wound. Ted returns to the house, and Fran appears at dusk, accompanied by Miriam and a young man, Rupert, who's to be Miriam's mate for the evening. After Ted falls asleep, Fran joins Miriam in killing and feeding on Rupert, but Miriam is worried Fran's growing attached to Ted. As you can imagine, it doesn't end well for anyone, but who will manage to escape the house, and who will become food?
This is a pretty good remaster of a film that's very grainy to begin with, and also a bit underexposed. The 7.1 track and the original mono both sound good, and both commentary tracks are worthwhile.
