The Brood (1979), directed by David Cronenberg, uncut Second Sight 4k remaster, encoded in 10 bit HEVC with AAC sound, including original theatrical mono, three commentary tracks, and subtitles in English and German.

IMDb : https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078908/

Video encoded in two-pass 15.0 Mbps x265 10bit with the veryslow preset for archive quality image. Audio encoded separately with Apple AAC for the highest-quality AAC sound available. Text subtitles converted to SRT, image subtitles converted to VobSub and repositioned.

Note : Here's a new 4k remaster of another early encode of mine, David Cronenberg's 1979 take on motherhood, divorce, and suppressed rage, steeped in the madness of all the different 70s psychotherapy cults, "primal scream" therapy, and pseudoscientific mumbo jumbo. Apparently inspired by Cronenberg's own divorce and the ensuing custody battle, which ended with Cronenberg travelling to California to pick up his daughter from the psychoanalysis cult his ex-wife had become involved with. Also, as Cronenberg has said, perhaps structurally the most typical horror movie of all his work, with a series of mysterious murders by strange creatures propelling the story forward. Very worth watching, and supremely creepy at times, and though the ending might be a little bit flat, it's the first and most literal expression of Cronenberg's tendency to want to turn the internal and psychological into the physical and concrete. The sparingly used practical effects are extremely effective, and the performances are very good, maybe especially those by Oliver Reed and Samantha Eggar, but the film also features Art Hindle, Henry Beckman, Nuala Fitzgerald, Cindy Hinds, Michael Magee, and Cronenberg's favorite weirdo Robert A. Silverman.

Frank Carveth is in a custody battle with his wife Nora over their daughter Candice, while Nora is in an experimental psychotherapy institute called Somafree. She's in the care of the arrogant Dr. Hal Raglan, who has developed a therapy technique called psychoplasmics, through which patients' trauma and rage manifests as external wounds, lesions, and even tumors. Frank discovers his daughter has apparently been mistreated, and blames Nora, while Dr. Raglan insists she wouldn't be capable. As Frank builds his custody case, Nora's parents, and then other people who cause her pain and trauma, are attacked and murdered by strange, elusive creatures, and Frank starts to suspect a connection.

This new Second Sight 4k remaster looks really great, with excellent color and contrast, nice detail, restrained grain, and it even compensates for the sometimes murky cinematography as much as possible. The original mono track also sounds good, and the commentary tracks are interesting, although I'm surprised there's not a Cronenberg commentary track. On the other hand, I've pulled in the German only commentary track with no English subtitles from the Wicked-Vision release, in case some German fans will find it interesting.

HeVK torrents always have lots of keywords. Try searching for “hevk body horror” for more unnatural growths and pulsing pustules, “hevk canadian” for more from the weirdos up north, or “hevk 70s” for more from the decade when there was so much psychotherapy and self-improvement weirdness that what's portrayed in this film doesn't seem particularly exaggerated.
