Pianist Monguito Santamaria leads his nonet through a nine composition excursion, which, had it remained truer to its natural roots, would constitute a solid disc. The ballad "Sueno Contigo" is restrained and gentle, while "Asi Sere Para Ti" and "Guara" flow like molten lava. "Todo Es Todo" and "Son Del Monte" also swing hard, with varied percussive layers and strong, dynamic vocals, led by Rudy Calando and Victor Velasquez. The lyrics are in Spanish and these works are fine representations of Latin Jazz.
